His Excellency, Ambassador Jacques Werner
The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Malaysia
His Excellency, Ambassador Jacques Werner is a distinguished diplomat with over four decades of service in the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since September 2022, he has served as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Before his current appointment, Ambassador Werner represented the Netherlands as Ambassador to the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the European Union in Brussels from October 2021 to September 2022. His extensive diplomatic career includes ambassadorial postings in Iran (2018–2021), Singapore and Brunei (2013–2017), and Romania (2005–2009). Throughout these roles, he focused on areas such as trade, economic cooperation, regional policy, European integration, and academic collaboration.
In addition to his ambassadorial duties, Ambassador Werner has held several prominent positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director of the Europe Department, where he managed bilateral relations with 45 countries and contributed to European and regional policy development. His career also includes postings in The Hague, Copenhagen, and Belgrade, with extensive collaboration with the European Union on political and security matters.
Ambassador Werner holds a master’s degree in Public International Law from Rijksuniversiteit Leiden and spent a post-doctoral year at the Institut des Hautes Études Internationales in Geneva.
H.E. Rafael Tristan DAERR
Ambassador, Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia
H.E. Rafael Tristan DAERR, born in November 1975 in Kobe, Japan, Mr Rafael Daerr serves as Ambassador of the European Union to Malaysia since September 2024.
Mr Daerr has extensive experience in diplomacy, European and international affairs – having worked well over two decades in the European Institutions, as European and German career diplomat and in the field of international commercial arbitration.
He previously served in the Cabinet of EU High Representative and Vice-President Josep Borrell Fontelles, advising him on the Middle East, North Africa and Iran. Prior to that, he worked in the European External Action Service in Brussels on Parliamentary Affairs, and in the German Foreign Office on European Affairs and Human Resources. Mr Daerr also served as Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tehran/Iran, in Germany’s Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels, and in the European Parliament.
Ambassador Daerr studied International Economic Law at the Sorbonne in Paris and Cologne University, as well as Political Science at the College of Europe in Bruges.
Mr Daerr’s mother tongues are French and German. He is fluent in English and Spanish. He is married and has two daughters.
Mr. Julian M Hashim
Chief Regulatory Officer, Bursa Malaysia Berhad
Julian, an advocate & solicitor of the High Court of Malaysia and a founder partner of a leading Kuala Lumpur law firm., advised on all aspects of corporate transactional work including international and domestic M&As, take overs and capital market transactions in his 25 odd years of legal practice. Julian also advised his clients on their on-going reporting obligations, corporate governance requirements and other compliance matters.
As the Chief Regulatory Officer of the Exchange, Julian and his team at Bursa Regulation undertakes regulatory functions of Bursa Malaysia Berhad and its licensed subsidiaries ranging from regulatory strategies and policies, listing, market and corporate surveillance, governance and sustainability, participant supervision, investigation and enforcement.
Julian is also the Chair of Sub-Committee 2: Governance & Disclosures of the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) as well as a member of the Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting (ACSR), a national-level committee set up to support the implementation of the IFRS sustainability disclosure standards (ISSB Standards) in the country. He is also a board member of the Capital Market Compensation Fund Corporation and an appointed industry member SIDREC Appeals Committee.
Ir. Ts. Shamsul Bahar Bin Mohd Nor
Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation
With over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, Ts Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor has a deep understanding of the sector. He has played a vital role in developing and implementing strategies to integrate sustainable practices into business operations. His extensive leadership positions in sustainability-related organisations demonstrate his dedication to driving change and accelerating innovation to achieve sustainable development goals.
He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and practical experience as an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Council Member for Professional Alliance for Circular Economy at Universiti Teknologi Petronas, and Country Representative in the ALP Steering Committee at the Asia LEDS Partnership.
Ts. Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor has held prominent leadership positions in organisations such as Sustainable Business Network Association Malaysia, Green Growth Asia Foundation, and Planters Industrial Cooperative and was an HRD Corp Industry Expert Committee member, providing expert guidance on capacity-building training courses.
As the CEO of MGTC, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have helped the company become a leader in the green technology space. Known for his inspirational leadership style, he works hard to foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity. He believes that with a collective commitment to change, we can create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world for generations to come.
Tuan Amirudin Bin Tuan Sulaiman
Project Manager, Sustainable Finance, Control Union Malaysia
Amir is an ESG Auditor and Trainer with expertise in environmental and social risk assessments. Drawing from his substantial experience in Sustainable Finance Risk Management at a financial institution, Amir specialized in conducting sustainability due diligence for all sector’s financial transactions. In this role, he evaluated environmental and social risks associated with clients’ operations, providing key insights and recommendations to ensure alignment with ESG standards before loan approvals. His work not only protected financial interests but also strengthened clients’ commitment to sustainability.
He is certified as an HRDF Train The Trainer and in GRI Standards, and has completed Environmental and Social Risk Analysis training, equipping him to deliver tailored ESG training programs that address sector-specific needs. Beyond ESG, Amir has over four years of experience in sustainable palm oil certification, with credentials in MSPO, MSPO SCCS, RSPO, and ISO 9001:2015. He has conducted numerous audit man-days and has consulted extensively to prepare companies for external certification audits. Currently, Amir is a Project Manager for Sustainable Finance at Control Union Malaysia, where he continues to advance sustainable practices in finance and other industries.
Ms. Madelena Mohamed
Sustainability Director, Bank Negara Malaysia
Madelena Mohamed is the Sustainability Director at Bank Negara Malaysia. In her current role, she oversees the strategic direction and execution of the Bank’s climate change agenda including climate finance policies for the financial sector. She has more than 30 years of experience in a broad range of financial stability issues including strategic, microprudential and macrofinancial policy formulations as well as crisis management policies for the Malaysian financial system. She currently heads the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) Task Force on Capacity Building and Training.
Dr. Gary Theseira
Advisory Committee of REDD Plus Finance Framework Advisory Committee (RFFAC) and Director of Climate Governance Malaysia (CGM)
Dr. Gary Theseira is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Asia School of Business (ASB) in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management and a Director and Council member at Climate Governance Malaysia (CGM), the Malaysian Chapter of the Climate Governance Initiative (CGI) under the World Economic Forum (WEF). He is an accomplished communicator on Climate Impacts, Governance Frameworks, Corporate Sustainability, ESG compliance and the SDGs, and facilitates a Global Association of Risk Professionals Certification Course on Climate Risk Management. He currently assists the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) leading the Climate Data Catalogue Review Committee under Bank Negara, and serves on the National Climate Change Advisory Panel and the Selangor State Action Council on Climate Change (IKLIM) as a subject matter expert.
Mr. Kevin Shawn Fernandez

Mr Kevin Shawn Fernandez is the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Innovation for Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (ABMB).
His focus is to work with external partnerships to deliver value both to them and the clients of the bank. Via this role, Alliance Bank has launched the Sustainability Impact Program that enables businesses in Malaysia to improve their sustainability capabilities, making them more competitive globally and saving costs. The approach for sustainability adoption is based on the bank’s 3As pillars of Advocacy, Advisory and Answers. Some key industry partners that he has built strong collaboration programs with include Bursa Malaysia, UN Global Compact Network Malaysia Brunei, Malaysia Green Technology Corporation and Green RE.
He has over 20 years of banking industry experience covering the areas of product development, portfolio management, digital and strategic partnerships. During this time, he has spearheaded change and transformation in the industry. Prior to this, he held digital roles in OCBC and portfolio management at Standard Chartered bank.
He seeks to collaborate with businesses and ecosystems to develop new ways towards mutually achieving new customers, revenue and cost efficiency.
Mr. Arshad Nuval Othman
Head of Sustainable Finance (Group Islamic Banking), CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad
Arshad Nuval Othman is the Head of Sustainable Finance at CIMB Islamic and is in charge of accelerating sustainable finance and sustainability practices. He joined CIMB Islamic in December 2019 as the Islamic Banking specialist for the Regional Financial Institutions Group, and subsequently shifted to Public Sector Group in July 2021 to cover Development Financial Institutions and Special Projects (including Sustainability). Prior to CIMB Islamic, Arshad worked at HSBC Amanah and AFFIN Bank as a Corporate Banking Relationship Manager with experience in covering local large corporates, multinational corporations and government-linked companies.
Ms. Jackie Mah
Executive Vice President, Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM)
Jackie supports the strategic and operational efforts of ICDM. Her breadth of experience includes financial management, strategic planning, information technology, HR, business development, marketing and communication, where she has led key projects at the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation globally. In her current role, she is committed to achieving higher operational efficiency, as well as fostering greater outreach and sustainable business growth both locally and regionally – through strategic partnerships, sound digital & communication strategies and brand differentiation for ICDM’s training and advisory framework. Her latest interest is in the field of sustainability, having completed the ESG Competent Boards Programme and is currently responsible in developing sustainability programmes and ESG integration across ICDM’s services for board and C-suites. Jackie is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Ts. Dr. Haji Muhtar Bin Suhaili
Group Chief Executive Office, Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Berhad (EPIC)
Ts. Haji Muhtar Suhaili is EPIC’s Group Chief Executive Office (GCEO), starting on 1st December, 2022. Muhtar 42, holds a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Technology from Curtin University of Technology Australia, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He is a Professional Technologist and currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining EPIC Berhad, Muhtar was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC). Muhtar had also worked for Shell for almost 15 years, and with Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd prior to that. He had served as Chairman of the Malaysian Palm Oil Certification Council (MPOCC) too.
He has vast experience managing various multi-million projects, international businesses, continuous improvement initiatives, business and manpower planning, staff capability development and succession planning within the organizations. He also has experience as Contract Holder in managing engineering design offices and fabrication yards. Muhtar has experience working in Malaysia and overseas, namely The Netherlands and Germany, and visited 38 countries.
Mr. George Yap
President, Malaysian Timber Association (MTA) and Managing Director of Weng Meng
George Yap is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Wood Moulding & Joinery Council (MWMJC), a trade association representing downstream timber industry products in Malaysia. He is also the President of the Malaysian Timber Association (MTA), a timber organisation affiliated with the timber industry in Peninsular and East Malaysia. George is also a Malaysian Timber Council board trustee, who passionately advocates the advancement of the timber industry towards a sustainable, environmentally friendly and circular economy. As an entrepreneur, George heads the Weng Meng Group of Companies. In addition to being a leading manufacturer of timber doors and provider of door solutions under the SANDOR label for both Malaysia and the export market, the Group is a leading manufacturer of cable reel for the cable and wire industries, and also a manufacturer in the business of converting oil palm trunk waste from replantation to a carbon storage product to replace timber with its own R&D company.

Reik Ong, founder and managing director of Saxon Renewables, has over a decade of extensive experience in the renewable energy sector across Southeast Asia. His expertise spans renewable energy policies, financing, EPC, and PPA models. Reik leads a prominent environmental attribute commodities trading organization, specializing in RECs and carbon credits. His company also provides strategic sustainability consultancy, guiding organizations toward achieving 100% renewable energy and carbon neutrality.
Ms. Charlotte Wolff-Bye
Vice President, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, PETRONAS
Charlotte Wolff-Bye, an award-winning business leader, at the forefront of the sustainability movement. She serves as the Group Chief Sustainability Officer of the Malaysian Fortune 500 company PETRONAS. Since joining in 2021, she has turned the company’s Net Zero Carbon Emission aspiration into strategy and plans to drive decarbonization and social progress.
Previously Charlotte worked for the Norwegian energy company Equinor in the role of Vice President Sustainability. At Equinor she delivered the company’s first sustainability strategy that laid the foundation for the company’s low carbon focus.
Charlotte currently serves on the board of trustees of the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), Cambridge, United Kingdom.
Mr. Supun Nigamuni
Managing Director, Control Union (M) Sdn Bhd
An accomplished forestry and environmental specialist with experience in compliance auditing, training, certification, program management and environmental assessments. Serves as the Managing Director for Control Union Malaysia and responsible for managing certifications for Control Union Malaysia, a global leader in sustainability assurance in agriculture industry and many other sectors.
In addition to the local responsibilities Supun also chairs the global expert team for Control Union overseeing the certification activities related to Forestry, Palm, Sugar, Soy, Rubber and Tourism. Formerly responsible in managing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001) certification activities for Control Union Certifications worldwide, and also Environmental Services for the Asian region which provides sustainability solutions for products, entities and activities in providing ESG assurance, life cycle assessments, environmental footprints, carbon neutral certification. A senior auditor having International Auditing experience in Forest Management, Chain of Custody, RSPO P&C and SCC, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, GHG assessments, ESG assurance and other environmental and social programs across many sectors over the last 11 years. Keen follower of sustainability trends and interested in assisting organizations to achieve their sustainability ambitions.
Mr. Ku Kok Peng
Chief Sustainability Officer, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad
Ku oversees sustainability, strategy, risk management, communications, investor relations, corporate responsibility, and government relations for his Group. He is a governor of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and an alternate council member of the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA). Before joining KLK, Ku was the Group Chief Strategy Officer at Green Packet, a public-listed digital company, from October 2020 to December 2021. In this role, he directed strategy, change management, communications, and investor relations functions.
From March 2017 to September 2020, Ku served as Partner and Executive Vice President at PEMANDU Associates, a public sector consultancy, where he managed projects across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Eurasia. Prior to this, he worked from August 2010 to February 2017 at PEMANDU as Director of the Palm Oil & Rubber NKEA, ETP Investment & Innovation for Malaysia’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), an initiative within the Prime Minister’s Department. He co-authored a Harvard Business School case study on the programme and participated in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Programme.
Earlier in his career, Ku held the role of Managing Director and Partner for Market Development in Southeast Asia at FleishmanHillard, where he received the firm’s highest award, the John D. Graham Award for Excellence, in 2007. He has also worked with three other communications firms and a Malaysian conglomerate.
Ku holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of London and a Certificate of Legal Practice. His executive training includes the Advanced Management Programme at CEIBS in Shanghai and the Senior Management Programme at Babson College in Boston. He is a Fellow and former Vice President of the Public Relations & Communications Association of Malaysia.
Mr. Rashyid Redza Anwarudin
Chief Sustainability Officer, SD Guthrie
Rashyid, 45, a Malaysian, was appointed Head, Group Sustainability of SD Guthrie Berhad on 1 January 2020. In this role, he was responsible for implementing on-the-ground programmes to promote responsible and ethical production throughout SD Guthrie’s operations and global supply chain. He also engages with a wide range of stakeholders within the sustainable palm oil sphere. He was redesignated as Chief Sustainability Officer of SD Guthrie on 1 April 2022.
He has 22 years of experience in corporate and advisory roles around sustainability, corporate responsibility, corporate strategy, programme management and change management across the plantation, forestry, property, telecommunications, automotive, oil & gas and public sectors.
He was previously part of the regional leadership team for the Sustainability and Climate Change advisory team of the PwC Southeast Asia Consulting practice. He advised multiple regional clients on issues such as implementing sustainable supply chains, developing corporate sustainability strategies, quantification of responsible practices for corporate valuation, government frameworks and policies as well as corporate reporting and assurance around sustainability.
After 15 years in corporate advisory, he joined the Sime Darby Berhad as Vice President, Group Sustainability and Quality Management in 2014 and moved to SD Guthrie Berhad (formerly known as Sime Darby Plantation Berhad) as a Principal Sustainability Officer as part of the de-merger exercise in 2017.
Rashyid holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Imperial College London, United Kingdom.
Mr. Lawrence Chia

Lawrence Chia is currently the CEO of the Samling Group which have businesses in automobiles, properties, timber, infrastructure oil palm with operations in a number of countries globally and have more than 15,000 employees. Since joining Samling 7 years ago , he has embarked on transforming the various businesses embedding ESG and Sustainability initiatives He is a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of the Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and also a member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants.
He has vast experience managing various multi-million projects, international businesses, continuous improvement initiatives, business and manpower planning, staff capability development and succession planning within the organizations. Dr. Geza Toth

Dr. Geza Toth’s expertise is in climate change policies, tech enabled MRV solutions, science-based target setting, and business case solutions in sustainable agri commodities. He served over 15 years in sustainability leadership roles at Ferrero and Barry Callebaut, promoting supply chain engagement and the credibility of certified, sustainable palm oil. He shaped the theory of change and advocated for the demonstration of cross-cutting benefits within RSPO, POIG, UNDP, ISPO, MPOC.
Ms. Norhasliza Binti Mohd Mokhtar
Senior Director of Climate Action Group, Malaysian Green Technology And Climate Change Corporation (MGTC)
Norhasliza Binti Mohd Mokhtar is a Senior Director of Climate Action Group. Her roles and responsibilities include ensuring the effective implementation of operational policies and plans. This includes accelerating the transition of the nation towards low carbon cities, low carbon mobility, working with local authorities and communities to inculcate green lifestyle practices, and facilitating the measurement, and reporting of GHG emissions of Corporates and SMEs.
Throughout her 23-years tenure at MGTC, Pn. Norhasliza has been involved in various key initiatives of the organisation. She has led the development of the Green Technology Master Plan, Green Tax Incentives (Investment Tax Allowance & Income Tax Exemption), Government Green Procurement and oversaw the implementation of ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS) Energy Management Gold Standard.
She has also led the development of various states’ green initiatives such as the Kedah Green Agenda and Selangor Green Action Plan, and assisted organisations in going green by developing their respective green roadmap and action plans. She is an alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) of the US Department of State’s premier professional exchange programme.
Mdm Zainora Zainal
Deputy Chief Executive II (Development), CIDB Malaysia
Zainora Bt Zainal, a highly experienced professional with more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronics) Honors Degree from Coventry University in the Midlands, United Kingdom in 1990. She was recently appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive II (Development) of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) managing 2 major sectors that consists of 4 different divisions. Her responsibilities include overseeing technology developments, business environment as well as contractor and personnel developments in the construction industry.
Prior to her current position, Zainora served as Senior General Manager of Technology Development Sector for a year and State Director for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur for five years. She also has a vast experience in International & Business, indicating her involvement in international business matters related to the construction industry.
Zainora has actively participated in various committees to support and assist the construction industry. These committees are likely to focus on addressing key issues, implementing regulatory measures, and promoting the growth and development of the industry.
Overall, Zainora Bt Zainal is an experienced and accomplished professional with a strong background in technology development and extensive involvement in the construction industry in Malaysia.

Puan Lindayani Tajudin

Mr. Vardan Sharma
Head of Public/Government Business for Asia Pacific, Signify Inc
Vardan Sharma currently heads the Public/ Government Business for Asia Pacific at Signify Inc., a Global 7 Bn Euro market leader in Lighting and Sustainability Solution. He comes with more than 2 decades of experience across several functions and has been with Signify for the last 10 years. His team is spread across 11 countries, working with several forward-looking customers around solutions to achieve their sustainability goals. He is part of the Asia Pacific Management team at Signify.
Vardan is passionate about technology and IoT solutions and the impact it can create on achieving the sustainability goals. He brings in experience and knowledge from countries across Asia Pacific, working with several Municipalities, Majlis and cities on urban planning/ design, city beautification, citizen safety, creating city identity etc. while ensuring that the sustainability goals are met.
Prior to Signify, Vardan has worked with organizations like IBM, HCL in India and he has done his Masters from the prestigious Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Bachelors from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), both of which are constantly ranked amongst the top-most colleges in the world.
Mr. Shahrin Mokhtar

His international exposure includes serving as Director (Overseas) in both Dubai and Sydney. Deputy Director Strategic Planning and Deputy Lead of Sustainability Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE)
Edison Choon has over 18 years of experience in MATRADE, including serving as a Consul/Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong and Brazil. In his previous roles in MATRADE, he was the Head of Planning, Monitoring and Transformation, Deputy Director of Oil & Gas, Chemical and Energy, Deputy Director of China & North-East Asia, Head of Trade Publication as well as Head of Talent & Competency Development and Senior Manager of ASEAN & Australasia.
He has pioneered multiple initiatives, including establishing the National Export Council, Sustainability External Taskforce, and ESG Department at MATRADE. He has also contributed to other organizations, such as Limkokwing University, the Malaysian AIDS Council, and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, developing departments and programs related to student counseling, NGO engagement, and industrial safety.
Being an advocate on sustainable development and ethical business, he has been a speaker, moderator and judge/accessor in various public and private programmes with future driven agenda.
